Regenerative Rangeland Study on the Central Coast of California

In 2018, Ford helped TomKat Ranch and Point Blue Conservation Science launch a project aimed at improving forage on the ranch via biologicals. The goal was to understand if they could improve forage and if this was measurable via current soil biological testing. Four years of sampling showed increases in biomass and nutrient quality, both key for cattle gain. However, these results were not as easily observed belowground. More research will be necessary to understand the finer details.

The paper that emerged from this effort is in review and posted on bioRxiv. You can dig in here, or follow this link to see the data Dr. Chelsea Carey presented for the Soil Health Institute’s annual meeting.

A huge thanks to TomKat Ranch and the Point Blue research team for this effort!
